Javier likely manipulated him or something. Like james probably didn’t like him to begin remember but javier got him all drugged up and then fucked him. Maybe he got him to fuck him by constantly giving him drugs. Its likely how he gets everyone to fuck him (likely what he will do to kenzie aswell)

I hope the artist and the author are privy to the level of literary depth that this story, coupled with a distinct artistic style, is capable of conveying! There is some great opportunity to explore lots of identity, LGBTQ, and coming of age issues. Even more intriguing is how these themes can be explored through the underlying dark, foreboding tones of the world setting.
Kenzie really should politely excuse himself and James and leave. James is clearly getting more and more angry and so his bf should make the “time to go” call.
